As co-founder of Icon, Nicholas has been with the company every step of the way. Each new project, each new client, has given him the opportunity to exercise his skills as a communicator and his passion for quality and innovation in equal measure. After 25 years in the industry, his deep understanding of the entire construction process benefits clients enormously, especially as he maintains a position at the leading edge of new techniques and materials that come thick and fast onto today’s increasingly diverse construction landscape. With Honours in Construction Management from RMIT, Nicholas is proud to have built an ever-growing company in Icon that is known for its friendly, knowledgeable people, commitment to quality, and track record of delivery.

ASHLEY MURDOCH

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Efficiency is a high priority for Ashley, whose multi-faceted approach to the construction process gives Icon’s clients a distinct edge. As co-founder of the business, Ashley is a central and typically accessible part of the management team. His degrees in Building Construction Management and Business Banking and Finance give him the rare ability to think like both a developer and a financier, especially during the planning stages when designing in all-important construction efficiencies. He also brings a detailed understanding of town planning, heritage constraints, and market conditions to all of Icon’s projects. Ever since establishing Icon with Nicholas Brown in 1998, Ashley has put quality first, and to this day he takes particular pride in delivering high quality buildings across a diverse range of sectors that not only appreciate in value, but that people want to be in.

LOU RAUNIK

NATIONAL OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

Lou began his career ‘on the tools’ over 30 years ago, completing a carpentry apprenticeship with Jennings Constructions. A student of the trade, he completed a Diploma of Building Studies then took on increasingly responsible roles in the industry as leading hand, supervisor, site manager and construction manager. For 10 years he was Construction Director at Mirvac Constructions, responsible for the Commercial and Housing businesses across Victoria, including planning, programming, costing and buildability advice. Since joining Icon in 2007 as Director of Construction for Victoria, Lou’s major project experience and industry contacts have helped Icon realise a well planned and executed ambition to build a capacity to deliver projects of any scale with the same degree of certainty and high standard of quality it has always been known for. Now National Operations Manager, Lou utilises his deep skills and knowledge as well as a collaborative approach to contracting across the whole Icon Group. His experience across a wide-ranging slate of large-scale construction assignments is the perfect fit for Icon’s future ambitions as a builder of innovative and diverse projects.

Nicholas held senior financial positions in a range of construction and development groups over the last 15 years before re-joining Icon Co in 2012. Nicholas has a complete breadth of experience from corporate structuring, project financing and reporting through to audit and financial reporting.

ANDREW FORD

NATIONAL CORPORATE AFFAIRS MANAGER

With strong experience in complex organisations and geographically diverse workforces, Andrew is a strategic thinker with a commercial mindset and ability to sustain focus on priorities and key business’ objectives. With a proven ability in the application of change management methodologies, Andrew is responsible for the development and delivery of corporate and organisational strategies that capture the input of key stakeholders, including the CEO, Managing Directors and other key internal stakeholders to ensure a clear, consistent and compelling internal narrative is being cascaded across the Group.

JAMES ELLISDON

NATIONAL COMMERCIAL MANAGER

James believes in the importance of professional integrity throughout the entire construction process. In an industry as fast-paced and high-risk as ours, James brings an innate ability to mitigate tensions, make sound, strategic decisions under pressure, and calmly translate any risks into workable solutions to achieve the desired outcome for all stakeholders. James holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Construction Law from the University of Melbourne, and enhances Icon’s credentials with experience across  a range of industries and working with some of Australia’s largest contractors.

EVAN BYRNE

DIRECTOR (VIC)

Evan joined Icon in 2016 in the role of Victorian State Director.

Evan’s career began after graduating from RMIT with a Bachelor of Construction Management, and joining Baulderstone Hornibrook as a Cadet in 2001, where he progressed to Senior Project Engineer and Assistant Project Manager. He joined Brookfield Multiplex in 2007 as Project Manager and progressed to Senior Project Manager and then Construction Manager.

Most recently, Evan has been Regional Director for Brookfield Multiplex in Queensland for the past couple of years where he has overseen the securing, planning and delivery of a diverse range of projects.

ZAFER TILLEM

Personifying Icon’s reputation as a company whose people are easy to deal with, Zafer is a people person as much as he is a highly qualified construction expert and leader. As General Manager of Icon in Victoria, Zafer highlights the importance of Icon’s collaboration with industry partners to ensure a client’s desired result, however challenging, is always achieved to the highest degree of quality. Zafer holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Construction Management with Honours, with particular strengths in project and construction management. He has no hesitation in recommending Icon to clients as a dynamic and nimble company that not only provides diverse and new age thinking, but which affords deep financial security and certainty of delivery.

RYAN TREWEEK

NEW BUSINESS MANAGER - VIC & NATIONAL

Ryan joined the Icon team in early 2017 as New Business Manager following 10 years at Multiplex. Previously holding a role as State Commercial Manager, Ryan has developed widespread industry connections and an in-depth understanding of the delivery cost of complex projects. Ryan's experiences and creative approach allow positioning of Icon at the 'pointy end' of hard money tenders and deliver exceptional value to Clients whilst ensuring risks to all parties are adequately controlled. Ryan believes in a non-adversarial approach to project delivery both upstream and downstream and that the fostering of positive relationships and repeat business are the cornerstones of sustainable business. Throughout his dealings, Ryan retains a true customer focus and prides himself on being able to deliver the best possible outcomes for Clients. Ryan has worked on projects ranging from $40 million to $500 million, all of which were delivered ahead of the target programme date. 

JULIAN DOYLE

DIRECTOR (NSW)

As a multi-disciplined construction professional with experience across Asia and the Middle East, Julian testifies to the fact that construction is a business based on relationships and reputation. He commenced his career on the tools as a cadet with AW Edwards, then attained a Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management) before working his way into senior positions on major projects for the likes of Transfield Asia, Lend Lease and Sunland. His travels and experience impressed upon him the sheer importance of good communication, and that with it anything is possible. Julian brings a personable, honest and pragmatic approach to his work at Icon, with true empathy for the challenges and pressures faced by everyone involved in the construction process at all levels. Julian remains instrumental to Icon’s evolution as a company reputed for being easy to work with and diverse in capability.

CHRIS BELLEMORE

OPERATIONS MANAGER (NSW)

Having delivered hundreds of millions of dollars worth of projects for prominent construction companies such as Hansen Yuncken, Baulderstone Hornibrook, Transfield, Kell & Rigby and Multiplex, Chris brings expansive knowledge and experience to Icon. His empathetic approach to dealing with subcontractors, clients as well as colleagues, along with his ability to develop respectful and productive relationships, gives him a strong personable foundation on which to exercise his technical expertise. With a host of building qualifications in his tool belt, Chris relishes the practical challenges and time pressures of large and diverse projects. No matter what market sector a client is working  in, be it aged care, health, education, government, defence, residential, industrial or bulky goods, Chris believes they are drawn to Icon because they enjoy working with top quality people who are professional, ethical and deliver on what they promise.

BEN BOWDEN

Relationships are at the core of the way Ben does business. Communication, empowerment, and a strong commitment to organisational development through mentorship and coaching help build a vital and knowledgeable team around him and, importantly, ensure the highest possible level of client satisfaction at every stage of a project. Ben’s open-door approach encourages team members to share information in a collaborative environment while demonstrating to clients that the entire company is invested in their project’s success. Holding a Diploma in Business Management and Bachelor of Applied Science in Construction Management, Ben advances Icon’s vision to be a diverse, proactive and quality-driven company through practical expertise and harnessing the power of people, both inside and outside the organisation.
